SIFAT Part II
I know I said I was going to post again YESTERDAY about SIFAT and it's amazingness....but oh well. I'm writing about it now instead. People who DON'T know what SIFAT is probably think I'm crazy counting down the days to some "fat camp". Well, that is false. SIFAT is NOT a fat camp. It is an acronym. It stands for Servants In Faith And Technology. It is an incredible place. It is my favorite place in the world. I can't even describe it. My big brother is on the staff there. My older sister was a counselor for the Learn and Serve summer camp last year. I've been to Learn and Serve for 3 summers in a row. This coming summer will be my fourth. I love it. SIFAT is a mission-based camp where international students and people can come and stay on campus to learn. They learn appropriate technologies to go home and teach their communities. They learn super incredible things like how to purify water and how to grow different plants that are okay to eat based on the resources available to them. SIFAT has different mission teams that go overseas and do all kinds of amazing things. My brother went to Bolivia for 3 months about 3 years ago. He drilled wells, so that people could access clean water. My dad took our church's youth group (I was too young to go at the time.) to Ecuador for a week, and they worked at VBS. SIFAT is a pretty amazing place. It changes me every time I go. People in a America take things for granted. I know I do. Going to SIFAT makes me rethink life. EVERY time I go. It is incredible. I keep using that word, incredible....but it really is. I can't think of any other words to describe it. SIFAT Learn and Serve camp teaches you about other countries and the need around the world. You learn how other people live. You learn how God works in awesome and amazing, unbelievable ways. It is a cool thing. I love SIFAT. I've done a TERRIBLE job at trying to explain it to yall. Feel free to go to sifat.org if you'd like to see for yourself. And if you HAVE been to SIFAT before (Fizz, Zozz, Cam, and Emily) feel free to comment and attempt to explain is better than I attempted. :)
